LONDON CITY AIRPORT WELCOMES AIR ONE LONDON CITY AIRPORT - MILAN LINATE COMMENCES

Date: 16/10/2006

London City Airport is delighted to welcome Air One, Italy's  privately owned airline, who are launching their London operation with a service to Milan, Linate, on Tuesday 20 November 2006.

There will be two flights daily Monday – Friday, departing London City Airport at 10:10 and 17:30, plus a Saturday service departing at 10:10 and a Sunday service departing at 17:30.  Air One will operate the service using an Avro RJ70 aircraft, with 70 seats.

Richard Gooding, Chief Executive of London City Airport, is confident that the business communities, both in London and Milan, will support the service: “Route development at London City Airport is driven purely by customer demand.  We have very close links with the business community and work with them to provide the direct air transport services they need.

“Milan is a very popular destination, providing a direct service between London’s city centre airport and Milan’s city centre airport certainly meets their demands and expectations.  Air One is very keen to develop services to Italy and we wish them every success.”

Air One will offer both a business and economy full service product.  Fares will start at £107.20 one way including taxes.

Giorgio De Roni, Vice President Network & Marketing for Air One believes London City Airport offers a very exciting opportunity for the airline to launch their London operation: “The location of London City Airport, we believe will be the success to Air One’s London operation.  We already have plans to extend our London network from 8th January 2007, launching a service to Rome, Fiumicino.  The schedule will be similar to Milan, offering a twice-daily service Monday – Friday, plus daily departures on Saturdays and Sundays.

“Looking at the growing demand surrounding London City Airport, we feel Italy is currently an under served market.  In addition to Rome we will be operating services to Genoa and Turin on a daily basis from 29th January.”
